PAN PAN PAN!!
Hi Friends this is praga, In this post ,I want to share a information about PAN Account Number, It sounds crazy but I got amused after hearing this and i hope you too will be.
Most of us have PAN Card, It is issued by income Tax Department, it is used for bank deposits above Rs. 50,000/=, purchase and sale of immovable properties, vehicles etc.
It is a 10 character alphanumeric identifier. Each char says something about them, lets listen what they are going to say..:-p
Lets take a sample PAN Number AAAPL1234C
First five characters are always Alphabets
Next four are always numerals
Last Char is always alpha check digit
I am the PAN Number
We are first 3 character, we range from AAA to ZZZ
Me the fourth character, will inform about type of holder of the card. Various types of holders are:
A — Association of Persons (AOP)
B — Body of Individuals (BOI)
C — Company
F — Firm
G — Government
H — HUF (Hindu Undivided Family)
L — Local Authority
J — Artificial Judicial Person
P — Individual

For most of the normal people like us, 4th character would be P
Me the 5th character represents
- the surname or last name of the person, in the case of a “Personal” PAN card, where the fourth character is “P” or
- (b) of the name of the Entity, Trust, society, or organisation in the case of Company/ HUF/ Firm/ AOP/ BOI/ Local Authority/ Artificial Jurdical Person/ Govt, where the fourth character is “C”,”H”,”F”,”A”,”T”,”B”,”L”,”J”,”G”.
